Help in Font Maker v3

This leaflet is to explain the use of online help in Font Maker v3.

The Help screen may be shown in several ways that are standard in Windows:

Click on the Help menu option and then on the sub-option required.

Use the key to enter Help at a position that is context sensitive.

Use the key to enter context help. The cursor will change to an Arrow with Query and may be used to click on a topic for which Help is required.

Font Maker v3 has added facilities.

Help Always on Top

By default Font Maker starts with the Help Window selected as Always on Top to allow the use of the Help Window and the current display window together.

This may be removed by closing the window, or selecting it to be NOT onTop by clicking the Help option on the Help window and then clicking the 'Always on Top' option.

If this is not available then, with the Help window showing, choose the Init option on the Font Maker window and click the 'Always onTop' toggle there.

Printing Help Topics

A Help topic may be printed as usual by clicking on the File option on the Help window and then the Print Topic sub-option. This is not always convenient if several topics are required and font Maker offers a better solution.

A new Help button 'Copy Topic' is added which will copy the topic text to the standard Clipboard.

On the Main menu will be seen a EdText option. This a mini text editor similar to NotePad. With both this Editor and a Help Topic displayed a topic may be copied from Help then pasted to the Editor.

The copied text will reflect the width of the Help window so for best results ensure that the Help window is as wide as possible.

CopyHelp Utility

There is a standalone version of this Help system known as CopyHelp.
